The embarrassment tax

It’s not the missing site. It’s the pause before you answer.

Three conversations every owner-operator has had this month. Each one costs a job you didn’t know was on the table. You only notice when the quarter comes in light.

01

“You got a website?”

You say “I’m working on it.” You’ve been saying that for two years. You send an Instagram handle with seven posts. They say “cheers” and never reply. Job’s gone before the quote is.

02

“Can AI understand this page?”

Your content is scattered across social profiles, PDFs, and old pages. AI agents need clean structure, visible content, schema, and contact details they can actually read.

03

“Can I see some previous work?”

They want a gallery. You’ve got 200 job photos on your phone. You promise to WhatsApp a few across. Half never arrive. They ring the mate with the proper site instead.

Done is the answer. A real site, hosted, on Google — ready to send. See the open-source setup →

How it’s done

Three moves. Then it’s live.

Same three moves whether you drive or we drive. You in an hour, us within 48 hours — nothing in between, nothing to wait on.

01

Tell us what you do

Plain English, not a brief. One paragraph. What the business is, where, and who it’s for. That’s the whole input.

02

Pick one of five, or hand us the details

Self-serve: five designs appear, you pick one. Done-for-you: you send the photos and a few notes, a human takes it from there.

03

It’s live. You get the URL

Published, hosted, on Google, editable from a login. You share the link on WhatsApp the same evening.

Out in the wild

What it looked like on the other side.

I’d put it off for two years. Sat down on a Monday evening, answered the brief, and had a clean site ready to review by the time the kettle had gone on twice. The phone started ringing Wednesday.

The old site was built by a mate’s nephew in 2017 and it looked it. Patients kept phoning asking if we’d closed. Now they turn up having already read the page. Hours change in a minute from my phone.

Local agency wanted four grand and six weeks. I called on a Thursday, the site landed Friday morning. Signed two new clients in the fortnight after. The agency never heard back from me.

Frequently asked

Five questions, answered straight.

What’s the real difference between self-service and done-for-you?
Self-service is a tool you drive. You type a paragraph about the business, five AI-built designs appear, you pick one, it’s live in an hour. Done-for-you is a person driving instead. You send what you’ve got, a human hand-builds it within 48 hours, and sends you the finished preview. Same hosting, same admin, same outcome. Who’s at the keyboard is the only difference.
Does this repo include a hosted plan?
No. This is the open-source codebase. Bring your own Supabase, OpenAI, GitHub, and Render accounts to run it.
Do you only work with tradespeople?
No. Any UK owner-operator, 1–15 people. The current pipeline is roughly 37% kitchen fitters, 17% builders, 13% physios, 11% bathroom fitters, 10% plumbers — plus accountants, padel centres, furniture stores, cafés, salons, therapists, and a growing list of everything else. If you sign your own cheques, it’s for you.
Can I edit the site later?
Yes. Password-protected admin is part of the template. Change the phone number, the hours, the services, the details, and the photos from the dashboard.
Will Google actually find it?
Yes. LocalBusiness schema, per-page meta descriptions, FAQPage markup, clean heading structure, fast loading — the whole checklist, shipped by default. Most customers hit the first page of Google for “[town] + [category]” inside 30 days. Not a guarantee. A pattern.
